ERGs - How to build the right infrastructure to support your DE&I goals.
Complimentary Webinar 24 October 2023 or 5 December 2023
As organisations work to embed their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) strategies, it becomes increasingly important to ensure that they have the right ‘infrastructure’ in place to embed good practices, foster ongoing commitment and maintain company-wide accountability.
An important part of this ‘infrastructure’ is employee resource groups (ERGs) or staff networks, set up across the organisation. While views differ on the role and mandate of ERGs, what we see more often than not is employees who are passionate about their area of diversity, but have little opportunity to influence improved outcomes for the wider organisation. This has led DE&I leaders to question the role and impact of ERGs.
McKinsey research however shows, that there is a payoff to getting ERGs right. Organisations with effective ERG’s groups, who have a clear purpose aligned to their DE&I and business strategy, have a more inclusive culture and are able to build a sense of community inside their organisations that others who don’t, struggle to do.
To achieve traction however, ERGs have to be more than just support groups, held together by common interest. They should also have a clear purpose and mandate which includes providing feedback, external engagement, allyship, building capability and integrating their activity into the DE&I strategy.
In this interactive 1-hour webinar, you will learn what the research says about ERGs as well as the do’s and don’ts, based on Diversitas’ insights into what good practice looks like across our global client base.
